Love, Sex and the I.R.S. follows the misadventures of out-of-work musicians Jon and Leslie, who room together in New York City. To save money, Jon has been filing tax returns listing the pair as a married couple. The day of reckoning comes when Leslie, with the help of Jon's girlfriend Kate, masquerades as Jon's wife to fool the I.R.S. auditor, Mr. Spinner.
